Ford has announced a recall affecting over 355,000 trucks from its recent model years due to an instrument panel defect that can cause the cluster to malfunction, potentially affecting the driver’s ability to monitor critical vehicle information.
The affected vehicles include models from Ford’s core truck lineup, which represents the heart of the company’s profitability in North America. Instrument panel failures that affect speedometers, warning lights, or critical system indicators constitute a safety concern under NHTSA guidelines when they prevent drivers from accurately monitoring vehicle status.
Ford said the defect stems from an electronic component issue within the instrument cluster assembly. Dealers will replace the affected components at no charge to vehicle owners as part of the recall remedy.
Owners of affected vehicles will receive notification by mail and can also verify their vehicle’s inclusion in the recall by entering the VIN on Ford’s recall lookup tool or NHTSA’s database.
Ford has faced a significant volume of recall actions across its lineup in recent years. The company has emphasized its commitment to proactive safety monitoring and said it identifies and addresses defects as quickly as its engineering processes allow.
