Jaguar Land Rover has confirmed a cyberattack on its internal systems is responsible for the production halt at its UK factories, making the incident one of the most significant cyber disruptions to hit a major automaker in recent years.

The attack compromised operational systems used for production scheduling and supplier coordination, making safe manufacturing impossible until systems could be restored.

JLR employs tens of thousands of workers directly, with many more dependent on its supply chain. Every day offline carries significant financial cost and compounds the company’s already challenging operational environment.

The nature of the attack has not been fully confirmed publicly. Cybersecurity specialists brought in by JLR are working to assess the scope and restore operations. The company is cooperating with UK authorities throughout the investigation.
