Bad Idea: Running From Police In A V6 Dodge Charger

Some people just don’t get it, like this guy who tried running from Clayton County Sheriff’s deputies in a V6 Dodge Charger. That’s like bringing a water gun to an actual gunfight or showing up at the drag strip in a Honda Civic with bolt-on mods.

Georgia police chase comes to a fiery conclusion.

Dashcam footage shows what sparked the attempted traffic stop: the suspect fails to yield at an intersection. Nobody is a perfect driver and most cops, unless they’re a jerk or having a bad day, will just give you a warning or write a ticket and that’s all for an infraction like this.

But this guy decides to unleash the fury of his slow Mopar that isn’t a muscle car because it has the anemic engine option under the hood.

While that’s a bad idea under normal circumstances, this is even worse since the deputies are part of Clayton County’s COBRA Unit. They train for high-speed pursuits and are more than capable of taking this guy down.

For his part, the suspect driver tries to get crazy to outrun police. He goes wrong way on a two lane road, swerves around, and even puts his driver-side tires in the grass on the shoulder at one point. The only response from the pursuing deputy is, “Yeah, he’s gonna crash.” He knows an amateur when he sees one.

Only two minutes into this chase, the lead cruiser PITs the suspect Charger out, spinning the Dodge around in a shower of sparks. That’s all it takes to chase down a car that has less power than a V6 Toyota Camry.

While you shouldn’t run from police ever, using a V6 Dodge Charger as your getaway car is an even dumber move.
