A Pasco County firefighter finds himself in cuffs again, this time in Polk County, following yet another highway blowup where things got way out of handgun included.
Crash At Mecum Takes Out Corvettes and Pontiac Trans Am
Cops say Dy’Sean Broome, 33, was cruising northbound on Highway 98 near Bartow in his flashy orange Dodge Charger when he started riding a couple’s tail like they owed him money. The driver tried switching lanes to shake him off, but Broome just mirrored their moves, keeping the pressure on like some twisted game of cat and mouse.
When both vehicles reached the area of Highway 98 South and Combee Road South, the male passenger in the couple’s vehicle reportedly got out to confront Broome and ask why he was following them. According to an affidavit, the passenger returned moments later and said Broome had pointed a gun at him. The couple called law enforcement and continued driving as Broome allegedly followed them into downtown Lakeland, where police later stopped his car.
Turns out, his ride wasn’t just fast—it was packing heat. Deputies snatched up a loaded piece during the stop, slapping Broome with charges for aggravated assault, stalking, and waving around a firearm like it was a party favor.
Broome’s version? Total role reversal. He swore they were the ones shadowing him. But surveillance footage doesn’t lie, and guess what? It sides with the couple.
No shocker here: this ain’t his first rodeo. Records show he copped a plea for disorderly conduct after pulling near-identical nonsense on the same stretch of road not long ago.
Pasco Fire Rescue’s brass got the memo—both busts are on their radar. As for Broome? He’s still in the hot seat while investigators pick apart this latest meltdown.
