Investigators said the vehicle was taken before deputies arrived, and surveillance footage later showed the Challenger being driven off the lot. The sheriff’s office released an image of the car in hopes that someone might recognize it or the person behind the theft.
The Challenger Scat Pack, part of Dodge’s high-performance lineup, features a 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine and is known for its distinctive styling and power. The bright red color of the stolen vehicle could make it easier for the public to spot, investigators said.
Authorities did not specify whether the suspect had broken into the dealership or gained access to the vehicle through other means. Deputies are continuing to review surveillance footage and follow leads in the case.
Anyone with information about the theft or the whereabouts of the red Dodge Challenger is urged to contact the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office at 843-398-4501.
The incident adds to a growing number of high-value vehicle thefts across the region, with muscle cars and high-performance models often targeted by thieves due to their resale value and demand for parts. Law enforcement officials are reminding dealership owners and car enthusiasts alike to remain vigilant, secure their vehicles, and report suspicious activity immediately.
