Police in Wyoming made a huge drug bust after they stopped a Dodge Charger that was fleeing at speeds upwards of 160 mph. Ultimately, authorities were able to seize almost 70 pounds of marijuana from the Mopar muscle car.
Man arrested for DUI in Power Wheels Jeep.
Initially, the Dodge was traveling on I-80 in Utah when a state trooper tried pulling it over for a moving violation, says ABC4. Instead of yielding to Utah Highway Patrol, the driver took off, pushing the performance sedan hard.
Outgunned, UHP and the Summit County Sheriff’s Office contacted authorities in Wyoming as the chase reached the state border. Probably realizing they also couldn’t keep up with the American muscle car, Wyoming Highway Patrol and local agencies set up a trap with Stop Sticks, which successfully punctured the Charger’s tires.
Eventually, the Dodge crashed, leaving the roadway at about mile marker 21. As you can see from the photo, it came to a rest on the driver’s side.
The two people who were inside the Mopar climbed out and ran for it, but they were later found and arrested.
Police were able to run the Dodge’s information and to the shock of nobody, found it had been reported stolen. A K9 sniffed out the vehicle and gave a positive alert, allowing police to find the hidden 68.8 pounds of marijuana.
Maybe you don’t think a little bit of weed is harmful, but this wasn’t a little bit of weed and the driver obviously thought otherwise. Obviously, the guy knew if he stopped for the Utah trooper it would’ve been discovered that the Dodge Charger was stolen.
If a K9 unit had been called the marijuana would’ve been found as well. So instead, the guy racked up more criminal charges by fleeing and did damage to the stolen car, making the situation far worse. Criminals aren’t very bright.
