Miracles do indeed happen, like how nobody was seriously injured when this semi-truck absolutely crushed a C7 Corvette in DeSoto Parish, Louisiana recently. From the photos alone we would guess there likely was at least one fatality from this incident, if not someone rushed to the hospital in critical condition, but instead everyone somehow walked away from this mess.

The accident unfolded on northbound Interstate 49 during the morning rush hour on October 5. It’s not entirely clear how the C7 Corvette became wedged under the cab of the semi, but we’ve seen other low-profile cars submarine under commercial trucks far too many times, so it does happen.
Local news reports and the DeSoto Parish Sheriff’s Office didn’t mention if there were one or two people in the Corvette. Either way, the headroom was preserved enough for those inside to not suffer serious head or neck injuries.
During the accident, a Chevy Taho from the sheriff’s office was hit, however the deputy inside was uninjured.
That semi-truck had a flatbed trailer with rolls of some sort which spilled, creating quite the mess that crews had to clean up. One of the deputies jumped in and helped with the effort, something a witness told the sheriff was exceptional. We’re sure the deputy felt he was just doing his job.
This accident should be a reminder that everyone needs to treat large commercial trucks, including semis, with a fair amount of caution. We like giving them plenty of space, not making sudden movements around them, and if we’re in a low-slung sports car we try to not travel next to them if possible.
Driving any large commercial vehicle on the road, you learn quickly that many drivers don’t understand how long it takes to bring such a ride to a complete stop.
