Carjackings, which have been on the rise in many cities for years, are a particularly scary situation. Most thieves don’t just kindly ask for your vehicle but instead try taking it by force. However, one victim in Philadelphia fought back against several armed aggressors and got away.

Dashcam footage shows the incident unfold as you see the driver go down a narrow one-way street with cars parked on both sides. It’s night and a Hyundai is driving in front of the victim’s car when suddenly it slams the brakes and several people in masks and hoodies jump out.
The victim realizes they’re being ambushed and has the presence of mind to try reversing out of the roadblock. It’s not a bad idea but most people aren’t food at backing up at speed. The driver struggles enough that one of the suspects is able to catch up on foot, pointing a gun at the victim. T
That’s when the driver decides to just gun it forward and get past the stopped Hyundai. Thankfully it wasn’t blocking the entire road, allowing the victim to only clip the other vehicle while speeding away from the trap.
According to 6abc Philadelphia, that Hyundai was reported stolen. We’re not shocked since carjackers usually use a stolen vehicle when they ambush their victims.
While some people tell you that the best thing to do in a situation like this is to just stop your car and comply with whatever the carjackers want, let’s just say we think this person did the right thing. After all, while not common we’ve seen cases of carjackers who have shot their victims even though they were being cooperative.
Ultimately, everyone needs to decide in advance what they would do in this situation. You might find yourself in a carjacking sooner or later.
