C3 Corvette Invites Itself Into A Home

A 20-year-old driver was tooling around Earl Township, Pennsylvania in a white C3 Corvette when he lost control, the sports car crashing through the side of a house. Thankfully nobody in the vehicle or the house was seriously injured, especially considering the car was only feet way from hitting a more substantial part of the structure.

As covered by local news station WFMZ, fire crews arrived on scene and stabilized the house’s structure to ensure it didn’t have problems as they removed the Corvette. Police were also on the scene conducting an investigation.

The police report indicates the 20-year-old behind the wheel hit the gas pedal instead of the brakes while going through the left turn. It’s a surprisingly common mistake even some supposedly experienced drivers make. Still, that’s got to be embarrassing, especially when you put daddy’s Corvette through the side of someone’s house.

Police told the news reporter on scene they weren’t sure if any charges would be filed against the driver. To us this looks like an unfortunate accident the insurance companies will have to work out.

In any car, you need to stay alert and be very aware of your motions, keeping them smooth and intentional. Far too many people drive like nervous wrecks, jabbing the accelerator or brake pedal and jerking on the steering wheel instead of anticipating turns, stops, etc. and fluidly responding to them.

In a sports car or any other performance vehicle, keeping your motions fluid, slow, and intentional as you’re driving normally is key to not losing control. We wouldn’t necessarily expect a 20-year-old to know this considering we’ve seen people well into their latter years who still don’t understand this principle. That style of driving helps avoid crashes like this.
