C7 Corvette Crashes Dramatically In Miami

Estimated read time 2 min read

A single-car crash in Miami last Monday ended with a C7 Corvette looking like its front end was blown up by a bomb. Instead, we suspect it fell victim to an inexperienced and overconfident driver who didn’t understand the limits of his front-engine, rear-wheel-drive sports car.

Watch a C7 Corvette effortlessly run from Arkansas State Police.

From a CBS News report, it was unclear if the driver or a possible passenger were injured in the crash. Looking at the Chevy, we wouldn’t be surprised if whomever was inside walked away rattled but okay. After all, the occupant cage seems to have held up perfectly for the driver and passenger, if there was one.

We do know the C7 Corvette hit a tree, obviously with its front end, causing it to explode. It had to have been going pretty fast for the impact to have caused that much damage.

Police not only didn’t disclose how many people were in the C7 Corvette and their medical status after the crash, they also wouldn’t proffer even a possible explanation for the wreck.

While overconfidence is a likely scenario, it’s also possible intoxication was a factor. Since it was a single-vehicle accident, we think road rage or some sort of altercation is unlikely, but we’ve seen weirder things in the past, so you never know.

This happened not too long after a fatal Corvette crash in Miami-Dade. That incident is still fresh on residents’ minds, so to see yet another isn’t creative a positive association for many.

While we’re limited in what we can do to discourage bad driving among everyone, as enthusiasts we can set a higher expectation. Many do just that, but there are certain elements of the hobby who seem to think driving like a reckless idiot on public roads is funny and a good idea. That needs to come to a close.
