Having a dashcam in your car can be a great way to prevent being the victim of a scam or prove who was really at fault in a crash. But they’re also a great way to document the crazy things you see on public roads, especially if you live somewhere like New York City. That’s how we have this footage of a Mercedes playing chicken with a cop in a Ford Mach-E.

Watch an Arkansas trooper ram a fleeing Dodge Charger in a way we didn’t expect.

Posted to Reddit in r/IdiotsInCars, the brief footage which we’ve included for your viewing enjoyment shows traffic backed up at a red light when someone in a Mercedes decides to drive in the oncoming lane and skip the line.

That’s when the police Mach-E comes around the corner, lights and sirens going, blocking the progress of the luxury car. At first you might think the cop is responding to another car and the Mercedes driver is just a jerk who thinks rules don’t apply to them, but it seems something else is going on.

As the NYPD cruiser keeps blocking the Mercedes as the driver tries maneuvering around, two officers on foot run up behind the German car and start trying to break the windows. That’s when it becomes obvious the driver is a suspect in some sort of crime and police set a trap to capture that person.

However, before police can bust through the glass the suspect finds a way to angle around the Ford Mach-E and takes off. Why the other cop didn’t pull his cruiser forward to stop the suspect’s escape is beyond us, but that’s how it played out.

What we do know is had the one guy not been using a dashcam he would’ve just been describing what he saw to people instead of sharing a video. That alone makes having one worth it.
