We personally know many Ford Mustang enthusiasts who absolutely hate the stereotype that they can’t control their car. But with little ponies running into crowds while leaving car meets, hitting poles, slamming into other vehicles, or plowing into buildings, it’s understandable why the stereotype exists.
Learn why a man abandoned his Mustang Mach 1 project car.
A recent incident in Phoenix, Arizona where a Mustang wrecked an apartment in the middle of the night will just perpetuate the reckless image. After all, we have yet another person behind the wheel of Ford’s muscle car driving like an idiot and leaving a family without a place to live.
According to OnScene TV, this incident went down in the early morning hours of August 20. Witnesses told police the Mustang was driving recklessly in the apartment complex parking lot before the crash. Then it hit one of the apartments while traveling at high speed.
That explains why the front end of the pony car is obliterated. While the apartment was occupied, the family inside at least wasn’t injured by the collision. The Ford driver, on the other hand, was taken to a hospital to be evaluated.
We don’t know if he was injured, but the possibility of intoxication contributing to the crash was being looked at. So perhaps he was at the hospital for a blood draw and not medical treatment.
Sadly, not all Mustang crashes like this involve any level of impairment. Instead, quite a few seem to be fueled by drivers who don’t know their car getting overconfident, pushing the envelope, then finding out they’re average drivers at best.
To be perfectly honest, we don’t think it’s always a Mustang or just Mustangs doing this sort of thing. We’ve covered plenty of Camaros, Challengers, Chargers, and other cars which have hit buildings, people, and poles. But the internet stereotype that it’s always a Mustang will probably keep on going.
