Dramatic cellphone footage shows several Good Samaritans pull a man from his burning Subaru in Seattle, dragging him to safety. It’s the kind of situation you never want to be in but will eternally be grateful for anyone brave enough to stop and help, risking their own lives to save yours.

One of the bystanders who became a rescuer talked with local news station Fox 13, claiming he was the first to approach the burning Subaru after he saw it crashed on the side of the road. At first he thought it was unoccupied, but then he saw the man trapped inside and said the guy was crying.
We can’t imagine the fear you would feel being in a vehicle that’s on fire and you can’t get out of it. As more people came to help, the Good Samaritans struggled to break the driver’s window.
They ripped a metal pole out of the ground and tried using that to break the windshield. It’s amazing how many people don’t realize windshields don’t break easily, but they tried it anyway.
If only one of them had a glass break in their vehicle, something we absolutely recommend carrying, they could have had the driver’s window out in no time. That’s something to think about.
As the fire spread further and the entire vehicle heated up more, the deformed driver’s door softened and was able to be opened. But when the rescuers did just that, the fire flared up violently, perhaps from a backdraft as fresh oxygen rushed into the cabin.
Despite that scare, they were able to pull the man out of the Subaru before it was too late. He did suffer some burns and was taken to the hospital. Exactly how extensive those injuries are isn’t known but we hope the man makes a full recovery.
