Porsche 997 Gets Hilariously Stuck At UK Car Show

Estimated read time 2 min read

Car shows can be a great way to connect with other enthusiasts, see some cool rides, and sometimes be witness to crazy accidents. While we far too often witness someone in a muscle car or exotic crashing while leaving gatherings, sometimes the drama is a little less intense, like this Porsche 997 getting stuck on a grassy hill.

A stolen trailer turns into a deadly shooting.

This mishap went down at the Porsche Classics at the Castle event held at Castle Hedingham in Essex, UK on September 15. Many are mocking the owner after the sports car was left in that compromised position for about an hour, allowing many at the event to take photos, which have spread like wildfire online.

After all, how often do you see a Porsche 911 parked on a lawn like that? And who in their right mind would drive such a vehicle down a step embankment as if it were a Cayenne or Range Rover. Someone dropped the ball, whether it was officials at the event, the driver, or someone else. Such a car never should have ventured down the grassy hill.

According to Daily Mail, the original proposed plan to rescue the 997 was to get a tractor and “tug” the car out of its predicament. However, that likely would’ve done damage to the front fascia, if not more, and so it was smartly abandoned.

Instead, a rope was reportedly used to drag it out. We would think that was a rope on a winch and was attached to the rear end, but those details weren’t disclosed, so we’re left to guess and conjecture on how we would handle such a situation.

The lesson here is if you ever drive a low-slung car anywhere other than on pavement, beware slopes and really any obstacles. It’s easy to get those rides hung up on even the tamest feature.
