A police chase in Brooklyn, New York took a tragic turn when the suspect crashed into a food trailer, leaving it badly damaged. The owner of that business is scrambling to make repairs just at the time of the year when things get truly busy, causing him to worry this might be a bigger financial hit than at first expected.
BMW 6 Series Wrecks Big Running From Los Angeles Cops
We cover a lot of police chases and why officers pursue some suspects. While some might rush to blame the police in this situation, ultimately the decision to run is made by the one who flees. And far too many times, in a desperate attempt to get away, these suspects lose control of their vehicle, damaging private property or injuring/killing innocents.
In this case, the suspect, who isn’t even really mentioned in the coverage from PIX11 News, flew off the road in Brooklyn while police were hot on his trail, slamming into the food trailer left in a parking lot.
The impact was so great it flipped the trailer onto its side. We don’t know what the interior looks like, but from the outside you can see serious damage. Fixing the custom trailer so the business can once again prepare and sell food is probably going to be expensive.
Someone set up a Go Fund Me campaign for the trailer’s repair. The goal is to raise $100,000 but so far just over $5,000 has been donated. That’s a long way off from the goal, we assume putting the future repairs on shaky ground.
What’s missing from the report is any mention of insurance. We would assume a business trailer like this would be insured, so is the money going towards a deductible?
This is yet another example of the negative effects people suffer because some believe they’re above the law and need to run from police instead of pulling over and fighting in court.
