We have seen officers shoot out the tires of fleeing vehicles, but watching a deputy stab a suspect’s tire is something new. As the included bodycam and dashcam footage shows, the deputy resorted to puncturing the tire while dealing with a suspect refusing to cooperate.
The improvised tactic was an unusual but resourceful attempt to prevent an escape. While not a standard maneuver, it demonstrated the kind of on-the-spot thinking officers sometimes rely on when a suspect seems determined to flee.
