Taunting police is never a good idea, but what this Dodge Ram driver does goes well beyond just that stupidity. But this chase involving Arkansas troopers started with something certain people would argue was innocuous: revving his engine.
Watch a GMC Sierra get repossessed in the smoothest way possible.
While members of Arkansas State Police and the sheriff’s office in Stuttgart were enjoying a meal at a taqueria, the suspect drove by, revved his engine, then took off “at a high speed (sic)” according to the lead trooper’s report.
You might think that isn’t worthy of being pulled over, and maybe the Dodge Ram driver did as well. But you also don’t get to decide that cops shouldn’t be pulling you over, justifying fleeing from them.
To the guy’s credit, he does eventually stop when troopers and deputies find him. But he’s combative from the beginning as the lead trooper treats him sternly.
After getting the suspect’s info, the trooper goes to his cruiser to enter everything into the computer. That’s when a deputy starts talking to the Ram driver, who just suddenly takes off.
It kind of reminds us of a little kid who doesn’t like what someone says, so they just run away crying, looking for their mommy. What does this guy think he’s doing? Police know exactly who he is.
The trooper calmly chases the Dodge Ram down, which rams an innocent bystander’s car at an intersection. Then he starts swerving all over the place, literally like a loose cannon on a ship, making it imperative the trooper end the threat to anyone else on the road.
He slams into the driver’s side front fender, stopping the guy’s erratic, temper tantrum of an escape. But even as he and other cops get out of their cruisers, draw their sidearms, and order the guy to get out of the Dodge Ram, he tries driving away. Fortunately, they have the truck pinned in and are able to arrest the suspect before he hurts anyone.
This could’ve ended so much worse for the Ram driver, police, or just some innocent person driving along.
