Jillian Shriner, the 51-year-old wife of Weezer Bassist Scott Shriner, was shot by police during a bizarre hit-and-run manhunt in Los Angeles. The extra twist in the story is that Jillian reportedly wasn’t even involved in the hit-and-run – it’s such a bizarre story.

Elderly man drives Subaru off Seattle parking structure.

Everything started on the afternoon of April 8 when three suspects traveling on the 134 Freeway were involved in a three-car crash, but fled the scene. The suspect vehicle exited the freeway, ditching the car in the Eagle Rock neighborhood before fleeing on foot.

One of those suspects, who was later caught, stripped down to his boxers, swam in someone’s backyard pool, and even watered the garden so police would believe he lived at the house. It probably seemed like a great plan, but he was eventually caught.

It was while California Highway Patrol and Los Angeles Police were searching backyards that Jillian Shriner reportedly emerged from a house armed with a handgun. It’s not an unreasonable thing to have on you when suspects who might be dangerous are trying to hide.

However, police say Shriner was ordered by officers to drop the firearm multiple times, yet she refused. Instead, she allegedly pointed it at police, with at least one cop shooting her in the shoulder.

Then she went back inside her house, only emerging later to be treated by paramedics for the gunshot wound. She was then transported to the hospital.

Los Angeles Police Department announced she was absentee booked for attempted murder. That’s a serious charge and the circumstances around it are bizarre.

Again, we get coming out of your house armed if you think dangerous people are lurking around and you want to make sure they don’t come into your home. But when you find a bunch of cops outside and they tell you to drop the weapon, you slowly and calmly put it down. Pointing it at police is a quick way to get shot yourself.

It feels like details about this case are missing, so perhaps those will eventually come out. For now, we just know the wife of Weezer’s bassist, who apparently likes to research and write true crime books, wasn’t involved in the hit-and-run, came out of her house with a gun, disobeyed police orders, flagged them with her firearm, and was shot.
