Oklahoma Motorcycle Cop Pulls Sheriff Over For Speeding

We hear stories of friction between some police departments and sheriff’s offices, but bodycam footage of a cop pulling over the sheriff for speeding, who proceeds to chew him out for the audacity is something else.

Yet another EV startup looks like it’s about to fold.

The footage was shared by the local Fox news station in Oklahoma City as an OKCPD motorcycle officer first clocks a white Chevy Tahoe going 58 mph in a 45 zone, then pulls it over. As he officer approaches the driver’s window, he realizes the driver is Sheriff Chris West of Canadian County.

Apparently, Sheriff West has a reputation for being a bit of a jerk. Immediately, the officer tells the sheriff his intention is to just write him a warning. But it’s obviously the sheriff is miffed at this.

When the motorcycle cop returns with the written warning, that’s when Sheriff West says something about when he was a state trooper, he “never did this,” referring to “when (he) stopped cops.”

While the audio isn’t clear, it sounds like the sheriff says he didn’t even issue a warning to fellow law enforcement as “a professional courtesy.” A lot of people don’t like that because it’s the rules for thee, but not for me mentality, a double standard that cops don’t have to obey the same laws as everyone else.

After all, we can guarantee if we were caught doing 58 in a 45 mph zone, we’d just get a ticket, not a warning. Yet the sheriff is incensed that he gets a warning, which comes with zero consequence. Is he just insulted that he instead isn’t congratulated, given a cookie, or told he’s doing a great job?

In response to the little temper tantrum the officer is subjected to, he tells he sheriff he could “just not speed” and there would be no problem. That’s when Sheriff West says he isn’t going to contact OKCPD’s chief to complain, which could be taken as a veiled threat.

The officer responds to that, telling the sheriff, “You’re as big of a jerk as I heard you are.” Apparently, the guy’s reputation precedes him.
