Car crashes are scary to experience, but police in Fairfield Township, Ohio are reminding the public of a basic habit after a devastating fourth gen Camaro crash. The driver of the American muscle car suffered life-threatening injuries after colliding with a Ford F-250 in an intersection.
Car goes flying through Texas roundabout and into a house.
According to Fairfield Township Police Department, police in their cruiser directly observed the violent crash at State Route 4 Bypass and eastbound State Route 129. Apparently, officers were in the next lane over when the 88-year-old Camaro driver ran a red light.
As the Chevy entered the intersection against the light, it hit the Ford F-250 truck, severely damaging the Camaro’s front end and driver’s door. Apparently, the elderly man suffered a medical episode and that’s why he ran the red light.

Not only that, the Camaro driver was thrown from the car, which is never a good outcome in a crash. Often, when someone is ejected from a vehicle, their injuries either kill them or leave them in critical condition.
Immediately, once we saw the driver had been thrown out of the Camaro, we knew he hadn’t been wearing his seatbelt. Sadly, a lot of people still don’t for a variety of reasons, even though it’s a simple habit everyone should be practicing.
But we’ve personally spoken with people who still believe seatbelts don’t save lives and in fact are harmful. There’s a mountain of data from thousands of crash tests at this point which prove otherwise, but people will believe what they want, despite facts.
Looking at the damage to the Camaro, there was no way the driver was going to not be seriously hurt in the crash. But had he been wearing his seatbelt, he might have just been dealing with some lacerations and broken bones and not life-threatening injuries.
Of course, the Ford driver was just fine. Not only was he wearing a seatbelt, he was in a much bigger, heavier vehicle, which makes a huge difference in a crash.
