Guy Finds A Hilarious Way To Sell A Mundane Volkswagen

A guy in Nevada has taken a hilarious approach to selling his rather mundane 2000 Volkswagen Jetta and we love it. After all, it would be easy for people perusing online car listings to just skip past the old ride, but instead the first few images are arresting.

Study claims handing cars like this down to your kid is dangerous.

The first one is especially attention-grabbing. Since the Jetta is a TDI, the guy Photoshopped it hooked up to a sled at a tractor pull event, adding an exhaust stack coming out of the hood as soot billows out in a large cloud.

That right there was enough to make us stop and do a double take. For a split second, we wondered if the photo was legit. After all, we’ve seen some interesting TDI builds in the past, so it wasn’t completely ridiculous.

Of course, two seconds of really looking at the photo revealed it wasn’t genuine, but we had clicked on the ad and had to see more. The Dieselgate related shock only enhanced our curiosity.

The next photo didn’t disappoint, showing the little Jetta flying through the air over a line of junkyard cars, as if Evel Knievel were behind the wheel.

For the third photo, the VW is seemingly parked next to two other cars getting crushed by a monster truck as it drives over them. But all of these are crappy Photoshop jobs, nothing more.

The seller goes on to show regular pictures of the Volkswagen Jetta TDI, which he lovingly refers to as “Old Reliable.” Sure, it’s not the most exciting car to drive and it won’t impress your neighbors, but for $3,500 you could do much worse.

After all, it has a manual transmission. According to the ad, the Jetta also has just under 250,000 miles on it, so it still has some life left for anyone willing to swallow their pride and drive such a humble, yet reliable, machine. Is that person you?
