Sometimes automakers come out with total cringe marketing campaigns, and Ford just did it for the Mustang FX Package. You might be a fan of the throwback Fox Body aesthetics applied to the modern S650 Mustang, but you can’t deny the photos the Blue Oval cooked up to promote it aren’t just beyond a little odd.
Memphis crime reporter carjacked at gunpoint.
First off, the two people they have in the photos are what we would call an odd pairing. I get Ford might have tried to appeal to aging Gen Xers but there’s a right way to do that and then there’s this.
That brings us to what these two individuals are wearing. Personally, I don’t remember wearing high waisted teal and black coveralls made to look like some weird derivation of a high-visibility suit back in the 80s, but maybe my memory is failing me.

I even checked the Ford Performance store to see if maybe these getups are for sale. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find a way to recreate this iconic look. I was really looking forward to wearing one of these to my next car meet.
Adding to the cringe is how the female model or whatever looks kinda happy-smug while the guy goes from all smiley to trying too hard to look hardcore. Ford would’ve been better off just recruiting Vanilla Ice to pose for these photos and really leaned into the cheesiness instead of doing this weird half measure.
Maybe this marketing campaign is working because here I am, talking about the FX Package, which is exactly what Ford wants.

The package itself is pretty white, and by that I mean it applies a lot of white details to the S650 Mustang. That includes the pony badge on the grille, the taillights, wheels, nostrils on the grille, and badges.
You can get your car in Adriatic Blue Metallic, like in the photos or go really bold with Orange Fury Metallic Tricoat.
The interior has some 80s vibes as well, like plaid inserts on the Recaro seats and the option of choosing International Orange, Prime Blue, or Black with red stripe seatbelt colors.
Maybe if you add all this, then squint at your S650 it will kind of look like a Fox Body. Or you could just grab a third gen pony car and skip all the nonsense.
This package is only being offered for 2026 Mustang GT Premium models. I just want to know if the coveralls come with the purchase.
