A Cybertruck caused quite the stir in Texas when the owner decided to drive through a lake in his all-electric truck. We’ve seen many times before how special Tesla Cybertruck owners are, but it’s still shocking to watch one drive through a lake.

Mustang with paper tag crashes while leaving a car meet.

Someone caught on camera the daring act, with the water at points reaching the top of the frunk or the hood. That seems a little deep for the EV.

After all, according to Tesla, Wade Mode on a Cybertruck should only be used in water up to about 32 inches deep, so not even three feet. It looks like at times this one, which was reportedly driving through Grapevine Lake in North Texas, exceeded that recommendation.

When a driver selects “Wade” in the truck’s Off-Road App, the right height is automatically set to Very High and the battery is pressurized to help prevent water intrusion. Tesla cautions owners to only go 1-3 mph in Wade Mode and to limit time in the water to 30 minutes.

We’re not sure if this driver keeps it at 3 mph and below the entire time, but he’s not exactly flooring it.

The Cybertruck’s doors and windows stay closed while it’s in the water, which is another thing Tesla recommends. It’s also a good thing because a guy on a jet ski decides to spray the EV with water. We would’ve done the same thing.

People seeing this footage on social media are either highly critical of the Tesla driver or think it’s hilarious. For example, one guy says the owner needs to park in a really big bowl of rice after spending time in the water.

We wonder if the Cybertruck owner will suffer any long term issues thanks to this little foray in a Texas lake. That hardly seems worth the little thrill considering how much the pickup likely set him back.
