If you’ve ever used plastic ramps to get your car up in the air, you might already know they can be a little interesting sometimes. A C4 Corvette owner learned this the hard way. But the guy probably had a sense things wouldn’t go well because he set up a camera to record.
Debtor runs over a repo man’s head.
Also, as the guy walks up to his sports car, he groans and says, “Uh, please don’t be a terrible idea.”
The only reason he would say something like that was because deep down inside, he knew it was in fact a terrible idea. Yet he still tried it, which is really something.
That idea involved rolling up the ramps using the rear tires. We can imagine the guy was doing that so he could access something on the underside of the ‘Vette at the rear. In other words, he wasn’t changing the engine oil but maybe was doing some work on the differential or perhaps the exhaust.
All we know is we could see what happens next coming from a mile away, and we think you probably can, too. As the guy tries gingerly touching the throttle to roll the sports car backwards onto the ramps, they tip forward from the Chevy’s weight.
With the angle steepened, he has to press on the accelerator harder to climb the slope. But he gives it too much throttle and the tires just roll right over the top of the ramps, shooting them forward under the car as the rear tires slam back down on the man’s driveway.
We can’t see, but we don’t think this did any damage to the rockers. But we bet getting the ramps out from under the Corvette wasn’t fun.
Would you just use jackstands instead of plastic ramps? What could this guy have done better? Or was this idea just doomed from the beginning?
