A theft suspect fleeing police in Los Angeles, California learned a valuable lesson when he slammed into the back of a dump truck. It was also the final lesson he learned in this life. Running from police comes with consequences, which can include dying.

Los Angeles teens laugh after crashing a stolen Kia into a storefront.

The guy was wanted for grand theft, of what isn’t clear, but he chose to use a Honda CR-V as his getaway car. That right there was a dumb decision, as was the choice to steal stuff.

But the suspect pushed the Honda crossover hard, acting like he was behind the wheel of a Corvette or Porsche 911, not some grocery getting with soft bakes and questionable handling. As the chase went on, the guy kept his foot on the accelerator, blasting past 100 mph.

As he used highways to try getting away from pursuing cops, he had to weave through the much slower traffic. We don’t recommend slaloming at those speeds in any vehicle, but in a CR-V that’s incredibly foolish.

He somehow was able to make it work for a while, until he suddenly didn’t. For no good reason, on an otherwise empty stretch of highway, the suspect cut it a little too close with a large orange dump truck.

It’s not like he couldn’t see the thing, so who knows why he got so close to it. Swerving at the last split second, he contacted the rear passenger side corner of the commercial truck with the driver’s side of the Honda.

That ripped apart the compact crossover and fatally injured the suspect. If you watch the pursuit footage, it’s no wonder he died when you see how violently the CR-V is ripped into. The guy made some poor choices and paid for them with his life.
