We’ve always wondered what a motorcycle cop does when he’s chasing down a fleeing suspect who just won’t pull over. After all, he can’t exactly do a PIT maneuver on a car, truck, or SUV. We don’t believe he can even PIT another motorcycle.
Watch a motorcycle cop pull over the local sheriff for speeding.
While we’ve seen some chases involving police on motorcycles, they usually need to cavalry in the form of a Dodge Charger or something like that to come and physically stop a fleeing suspect. But in this case, a Florida trooper is able to do something on his Harley which you might think is clever.
The FHP trooper is running traffic on the inside shoulder of the interstate when he clocks an Infiniti going 88 mph in a 55 mph zone. When you get caught speeding like that, you might be going to jail. But you pull over and take the punishment like a man.
However, the driver of the Infiniti decides to run, as you can see in the footage. Later, we learn there’s drugs and drug paraphernalia in the car, which explains the foolish choice to flee.
We don’t know if the driver got arrogant because he “just” had a motorcycle cop chasing him down, or what happens in the footage. The guy exits the interstate, traves along a bigger road, then turns into a residential area while trying to ditch the trooper.
He nearly succeeds, taking a turn at the last second. After all, the hog the cop is on can’t slow down and take such a sharp turn. Unfortunately, neither can the Infiniti. The car ends up crashing into a ditch on the side of the road after taking the turn way too wide.
In other words, the guy pitted himself. Dumping his bike, the trooper had the driver and his passenger at gunpoint immediately. So now you know what a motorcycle cop can do if you flee: let you take yourself out.
