Yet again someone has wrecked out while leaving a Cars & Coffee event, this time with a rare 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1. This happens way too much at car meets, and the blame doesn’t just rest on the drivers. Sure, these guys decided to drop the hammer, but the crowd encourages this kind of behavior and sometimes they pay the price. As a community we need to turn this around.

In the video, which was shared to Instagram, we can see the C7 Corvette ZR1 gun it as the driver’s leaving the Windermere Cars & Coffee. The powerful sports car torque steers left then right as you can hear the driver bouncing off that rev limiter, then the front end contacts the curb dead-on, jumping it as the back end does a nice 180. It’s the kind of scene we’ve seen play out way too often.
A car like this 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 is something you should respect at all times. After all, the thing rises to near supercar levels of performance, but it’s wild enough to turn around and bite you in an instant if you’re not careful. This is true no matter how experienced you are, depending on what drive mode you put the sports car into.
The outcome in this case could’ve been so much worse. Thankfully no other cars were involved in the collision and damage to the ZR1 seems to be minimal. Considering precious few of these were made, it’s good to see the ‘Vette wasn’t totaled in the aftermath.
The organizer of the Windermere Cars & Coffee uploaded a video to YouTube a month ago complaining about this kind of behavior at the event. It’s definitely a problem and unless we want the government coming in and taking care of it, we as a community need to do something. After all, multiple Cars & Coffee meetups have been permanently banned in different cities throughout the country and cops often patrol car meets heavily.
Rightfully shaming those who do this sort of thing and making it clear this doesn’t make you a welcome participant in events, whether you wreck out or not, should be the bare minimum.
Drive your car and stop showing off, you have a powerful car take the responsibility and do the right thing.
If yer character is weak enough you need to show off what you are already showing off, you deserve to wreck.

I have a ZR1. The Last owner totaled it. Completely repaired now and back on the road. This car even scares me. As soon as I step on the gas hard it slides to the side. I keep the car slow taking off and try to drive safely. It sure is tempting and lots of fun. I agree the peer pressure contributes to unsafe driving. Best thing to do is leave last. Save a life it may be your own.

My thoughts are in the mindset of these rich people with high dollar cars that lack a lot of common sense. The pros are driving on a race prepared track with a professional team that has the skills to set up the car for the track.The professional drivers have been to Pro Driving Schools and have to be licensed as a Professional Driver.The drivers never start a race on cold tires knowing that the race would be a very difficult and dangerous beginning.These local want to be Drivers have no one to blame for their accidents and injuries to others but themselves. Hopefully in time they will get the opportunity to do the right thing and stop the madness and get rid of this stupid thing that they are doing.

Our club gives lessens for people who want to learn how to race their cars on a track. We ask them to race on a track not the street, because you could hurt someone or yourself.

Nobody needs this kind of horsepower in a car. Your car should not be able to exceed the highest posted speed limit anywhere in the United States. With the exception of emergency vehicles. No ordinary citizen needs a high horse powered assault vehicle.
Agree, I do track events which give me a safe outlet to unleash the car’s performance. It has also made me a calmer driver on public roads and much more situationally aware, where I am happy to keep the idiots ahead of me.
Most of these idiots have no business with anything more powerful than a damn bicycle.
Take to the race track so you can see how good you do against others, any moron can pull out of a parking lot and put the hammer down, at least at the track if you run of talent someone will be there to help or cart you off to the hospital.
