Chevy Cavalier Goes Off-Roading, Takes Several PITs In Wild Police Chase

Estimated read time 2 min read

If we were to compile a list of the top 20 getaway cars, the Chevy Cavalier admittedly wouldn’t make the cut. We don’t think it would make the top 100 getaway cars list, either. However, we also know that in the hands of a capable driver, an average car can do amazing things. And in the hands of a bad driver, an excellent car can perform only okay. That’s how we explain this police chase.

Suspects try using an Uber as a getaway car.

Normally, Arkansas troopers don’t have much trouble catching just about any suspect, except for the occasional Hellcat or Scat Pack. To see them pulling out all the stops to get this Cavalier reigned in is pretty incredible.

It all starts innocently enough with the trooper pulling the little Chevy tin can over for having expired tags and following another car too closely. However, the man behind the wheel claims to not have a driver’s license on him and provides a false name.

The lie is uncovered when the trooper uses a portable fingerprint scanner to positively identify his suspect, a parolee. That detail could be why this man was able to flee police better than most – it’s all about experience.

Being motivated by the extreme desire to not be incarcerated again probably also motivates this guy as he pushes the Cavalier harder than a Domino’s delivery driver 20 years ago. He also knows how to make pitting him a little more difficult, so we definitely get the feeling this is far from his first rodeo.

Spike strips finally slow him down and the lead trooper PITs the little Cavalier. He still doesn’t give up easily, driving on the grassy shoulder for a bit before he’s pitted even harder three times in a row to finish this bizarre police chase.

Ultimately this guy made his situation worse, adding to his parole violation with felony fleeing and several traffic violations. No matter how bad your situation might be, running from cops will only make it worse.
