When you hear about the revolving doors of the justice system, you might not be thinking criminals are committing fresh crimes on their way home from getting out of prison. But that’s exactly what one guy did in southern Arizona, stealing a transport truck loaded with new C8 Corvettes.
Owner has proof a valet took his band new C8 Corvette out joyriding.
As you might imagine, a car transport truck isn’t exactly the best getaway vehicle, so Cochise County Sheriff Deputies were able to catch up and apprehend the suspect rapidly. But Isaiah Walker of Lawton, Oklahoma told them he wasn’t trying to steal the mid-engine sports cars.
The incident first started at a Love’s Truck Stop in the county back on February 15. Walker struck up a conversation with the transport driver, asking him about the C8 Corvettes and in general being friendly.
Without warning, Walker grabbed the driver and threw him from the cab, then fired it up and took off. We’ve seen criminals go from deceptively docile to striking ruthlessly before and it reminds us of predators in the animal kingdom when they do the same.
According to Cochise County Sheriff’s Department, 10 C8 Corvettes were on the transport. They have an estimated value north of $1,250,000. But Walker claims he took the truck because he just needed a ride home from prison.
If you believe that, we have a few C8 Corvettes to sell you, but you can’t see them or the titles first. Thankfully, deputies didn’t buy his line and arrested Walker, who’s now facing multiple felony charges and more, including 11 counts of Theft of Means of Transportation.
The most amazing thing about this story is how law enforcement in Cochise County was able to stop the truck without damaging it or the C8 Corvettes. Considering they get plenty of practice chasing down and stopping both drug and human traffickers, that might be how they pulled it off.
