A scary scene unfolded recently in Phoenix, Arizona when a Dodge Charger slammed into the side of a fuel tanker truck, then burst into flames. Emergency crews reacted quickly to put out the raging inferno and treat those who were injured in the crash.

According to OnScene TV, a Phoenix cop saw the Mopar hit the truck on 51st Ave just south of the I-10 overpass at about 2:11 am on February 15, 2024. It’s not clear if the Charger was speeding or behaving recklessly before the collision.
Shortly after the crash, the Dodge began to burn. Thankfully the tanker truck was empty so only fumes from the fuel which was inside earlier could have contributed to the fire. Otherwise, everyone in the Charger might have been incinerated on impact or shortly after.
When the officer reached the muscle car, he found two people were still inside. With backup on the scene, police pulled those two injured parties out of the vehicle and far enough away they were safe from the blaze.
First responders worked to stabilize both of the injured people, who were later transported to the hospital in serious condition.
It’s unclear if the driver was one of the injured. Police were speaking with a person of interest on the scene who seemed upset about the situation. Whether or not that person had been in the Charger also wasn’t disclosed by authorities.
While we don’t know what led up to the crash, we can say that everyone needs to drive carefully, no matter the time of day or night. Driving recklessly, speeding excessively, driving while intoxicated, driving distracted, etc. can cause serious, even deadly accidents.
