Brutal PIT maneuvers can be interesting to watch when you’re not in either car and don’t have to deal with the consequences. Not only can messy PITs damage suspects’ cars, they can injure the suspects, put others on the road in danger, damage the police cruiser, and even injure the cop. That’s what makes this Mustang PIT from Arkansas so beautiful to watch.
Trying to avoid a PIT, a suspect wrecks out big.
There’s no car flying off the road, launching into the air, rolling, or anything else dramatic in the dashcam footage. Instead, it’s just a beautiful PIT followed by the fleeing suspects surrendering.
As with so many other Arkansas State Police chases, this one involves local law enforcement calling for help as a suspect flees. The trooper has to work through traffic and past the other cops to get to the red Ford Mustang.
He does all that with finesse, never risking a close call and never losing control of his cruiser at high speeds, even a little. This video is of the quality it could and maybe is used for training troopers and other law enforcement.
Once he gets past the lead pursuit vehicle, the trooper bears down on the fleeing Mustang. We often wonder what people who run from the cops in Arkansas think when a trooper suddenly comes out of nowhere and starts getting really close to their car. Do they even know what an ASP cruiser looks like? We’re guessing no.
Or maybe this driver has, because he suddenly puts on his turn signal and tries getting in the right lane. Maybe he realized the jig was up and he was about to have the hammer drop on him. But the trooper comes up like a jaguar pouncing on its prey and without hesitation executes the absolutely beautiful PIT.
Seriously, it spins the Mustang out with grace. The trooper maintains complete control of his cruiser. And the suspect vehicle doesn’t even appear to have a single dent. The flawless execution is impressive.
