Car Thief Ditches Police, Then His Woman And Son

Estimated read time 2 min read

A known car thief ditched his own young son and woman to get away from police in Seattle recently. He has several arrest warrants, which is probably why he was so desperate to get away. Before that, the guy used a stolen truck to lead authorities on a chase through three counties at high speeds.

Toyota Corolla running from police proves surprisingly tough to stop.

Originally, a call was made about a man slumped over the steering wheel of a truck. Once the plate was ran, Pierce County deputies realized the vehicle had been reported as stolen. An attempt to pull over the suspect only caused him to run, hitting two other cars in the process, says KING 5.

From there, the guy drove the stolen truck into King County as Washington State Patrol troopers joined in. After crossing into Snohomish County, the suspect turned around and went back into Seattle, ditch the truck and the other two people inside in the Rainier Valley area.

Authorities were able to positively identify the driver, who got away, by talking to his son. Apparently, his woman didn’t want to disclose such information.

One witness said the getaway vehicle looked like a utility truck, which he thought was unusual, so he snapped a photo of it as it sat on the back of a wrecker. If it wasn’t a utility truck, we imagine it was some pickup with a commercial upfit, perhaps for construction or something similar.

Car thieves aren’t in general known for being honorable, so it’s not all that shocking one would ditch his woman and four-year-old son to get away from police. Still, this case is a reminder that these guys who are out there boosting your car or helping your insurance rates climb will sell their own mother up the river if it gets them something they want.
