We’ve known a number of people who think any luxury SUV is just a creampuff, almost literally. They genuinely believe because a vehicle supposedly costs a lot and is from a premium brand it just be soft, incapable, and in general useless. But a drive-by shooting suspect shows that’s not the case, using a Porsche Cayenne as a tough, hard-hitting weapon against pursuing police.
Man in a Merecedes G-Wagon goes on wild rampage throughout a neighborhood.
First off, the suspect driver tries using the superior performance of the German vehicle against the police’s Ford Explorers and other fleet cars. It’s not a bad plan considering the Cayenne was designed for high-speed runs on the Autobahn.
However, he’s not a wide-open freeway but instead is on the congested streets of Seattle, so getting the Porsche really wound up and going isn’t so easy. At one point he drives on a sidewalk to get around stopped and parked vehicles on the road.
Then there’s the issue of the status of the vehicle. The Cayenne honestly looks rough, like it’s seen much better days. Even before it makes contact with police cruisers, it looks to have sustained body damage before, like quite a bit. And usually when cars have that appearance, their mechanicals are a mess as well.
In other words, this Porsche probably wasn’t running at tip-top condition. A lot of people buy used cars like this when they can barely pay for the vehicle itself, then realize maintenance is beyond their capabilities. That’s when the ride starts to have a plethora of problems from improper maintenance.
Considering this guy allegedly did a drive-by shooting, he seems to have a history of making bad life choices. Now he’s living the consequences.
Unfortunately, the Cayenne suffered some of those consequences as well. But at least this proves they don’t just crumple easily, even though certain people desperately want to believe all Porsches are soft.
