Mustang Outruns Arkansas Trooper, Hides In Plain Sight

Running from police is a dumb idea, but this guy in a white Ford Mustang actually seems deviously clever. After leading an Arkansas trooper on a high-speed chase, the pony car driver hides in plain sight – at least we think he does. You should watch the dashcam footage and see if you agree.

Buc-ee’s Is A National Treasure

The pursuit starts when the member of the famed Arkansas State Police observes the Mustang speeding late one night on the highway. There’s no hiding he wasn’t even close to the speed limit as the Ford blasts by a bunch of other cars, including the marked ASP patrol car.

Instead of just pulling over and taking the ticket, the Mustang doesn’t even hesitate about accelerating. It doesn’t take the suspect long to hit speeds of around 140 mph, the trooper striving to keep up.

Maybe the driver has warrants for his arrest or he already has a lot of points on his license? Perhaps his insurance is already insane (isn’t everyone’s these days?) and he really doesn’t want a ticket to jack up the rate further.

Or perhaps the guy wants the thrill of getting away from a cop, especially an Arkansas trooper? That could be viewed by him as quite the challenge.

At first the trooper stays on his tail, but as the speeds climb, he can’t and the little white Mustang disappears into the night. But the trooper keeps going, we guess hoping he’ll eventually catch the fleeing pony car.

But we think he does eventually catch up to the Mustang. At about the 2:00 mark in the footage, it looks like the trooper passes by a white Ford Mustang driving the speed limit in the right lane. Granted, the dashcam is shaking and so it’s hard to tell for sure, but we think it might be the same car.

Does the guy have a retractable second license plate? How did the trooper not even stop and examine the Mustang for a second? We don’t know, but if that’s the same guy, he has nerves of steel to pull a move like that.

Watch the video and tell us what you think.
