We know this might come as a shock to some delusional individuals, but a Hyundai Sonata isn’t a muscle car. Apparently, the driver of just such a sedan thought she could black out and outrun an Arkansas trooper. Instead, what she got was a quick PIT maneuver and a free trip to jail.
Watch a bunch of cops get into a big pileup during a chase.
What sparked the chase was the trooper observing the Hyundai was driving down Interstate 85 blacked out. Once the trooper started giving chase with his lights and sirens on, you can see in the dashcam footage the suspect driver starts using her turn signals.
Why people do weird, stupid things like this is beyond us. But as the Hyundai driver starts pushing the Korean car to try losing the trooper, she almost gets taken out by a truck pulling a skid steer on a trailer, probably because she was blacked out and the other driver couldn’t see the Sonata.
Of course, the car can’t just pull away from the Arkansas State Police cruiser because it’s a far cry from a Hellcat or C7 Z06. But the female suspect sure tries, swerving all over the interstate while using her turn signal at random.
Eventually, the trooper gets to a spot where he feels confident performing a PIT maneuver. However, his first attempt is thwarted by the suspect swerving some. But the second attempt goes off without a hitch, the Hyundai ping ponging between the two sides of the interstate before coming to a rest.
Here’s the kicker: according to the trooper’s report, after arresting the driver and seizing the Hyundai, he found a catalytic converter in the trunk “that appeared to be poorly cut from another vehicle.” In the backseat he found a Sawzall and in the center console some work gloves. It doesn’t take a genius to understand what all that’s about or why the driver didn’t want to pull over.
But why was she driving down the interstate with her lights shut off? One would think if you’re out breaking the law you’d want to blend in, not do stupid things that guarantee the police will try pulling you over, then lead them on a chase and ensure your vehicle gets searched.
