We’ve seen some suspects run from police in some of the worst getaway cars possible, but a Dodge Caliber is a new one. Some guy in Clay County, Kentucky decided to use his Caliber, which sounds like it’s on death’s doorstep, to run from state troopers and the pursuit footage is actually hilarious.

Suspect in a Hyundai Sonata thought she could outrun an Arkansas trooper.

Aside from the guy running in one of the worst modern Mopars, hearing the drone of the underpowered engine and “performance” exhaust just adds to the comedic element. Like so many people in the video’s comments have noted, it sounds like a leaf blower or lawn mower, literally.

Having known people who made the mistake of buying a Dodge Caliber back in the day, the thing undoubtedly has the check engine light illuminated along with a few other dummy lights, maybe all of them. We’re honestly surprised any of these things are still on the road.

But this guy flogs the poor vehicle as he constantly crosses over the double yellow line on a two-lane country highway. It hilarious to watch him try gapping the trooper, who has to keep intentionally slowing down so he doesn’t ram into the suspect.

If this chase were in Arkansas, it would’ve been over in about 30 seconds. Instead, Kentucky State Police just tail this guy, we guess waiting for the engine to blow up or a wheel to literally fall off.

In the meantime, the guy takes the chase to a dirt road, we guess because he thinks his skinny little tires will handle better than the trooper’s cruiser? Of course it doesn’t help, but this guy doesn’t seem to understand the word “quit.”

Finally, the suspect stops torturing the last Caliber on the road and pulls off, surrendering to troopers. That’s when one of them recognizes the guy and says he chased him a month before. This is the justice system at work, rotating criminals back onto the street so they can break the law and put everyone in danger over and over.
