A pair of thieves stole a C7 Corvette Z06 and a Dodge Hellcat from a dealership in Wisconsin, doing donuts outside before taking off, adding insult to injury. If this doesn’t prove to people criminals don’t fear the law, with taunting behavior like this on full display, then we guess certain individuals don’t want to face that uncomfortable fact.
Mustang thieves get stuck on a unique bus-only road.
According to the dealership owner, who spoke with Channel 3000, on April 6 the two suspects broke a window in a door and used that to unlock it, then just walked inside the showroom. They at first tried taking a C8 Corvette but couldn’t get it in gear, so they opted for the C7 Z06 and the Dodge Challenger Hellcat.
The owner of the dealership said it’s “hard to swallow” the fact the suspects stole from him, showed off in the street in front of his dealership, then got away.
Apparently, he, like so many others, hasn’t been paying attention to the trend of dealer heists like this, which has been going on for years. Sadly, we’ve seen so many cases like this, we couldn’t even begin to remember them all.
Unsurprisingly, the Channel 3000 report reveals the dealer had the car keys just sitting out. That means the thieves just had to break into the showroom and they could help themselves to whatever vehicle they wanted. Now, those keys are in a safe.
We’ve been saying for a while now that car dealerships and repair shops need to use better security. They’re prime targets for thieves since nobody is at them overnight and they often have high-value vehicles just sitting there.
When criminals no longer fear tough consequences from authorities, they engage in this taunting behavior, knowing full well nothing really bad is going to happen to them.
