Bump And Run Carjacking Leads To Home Robbery

Another bump and run carjacking is in the news, this time with the victim kidnapped and the carjackers burglarizing the man’s home. Thankfully the victim survived the ordeal, but was battered after getting beat up by his attackers.

The carjacking happened recently in Corona, California as the victim was driving his Tesla and was stopped at a red light. Another car ran into his vehicle in what the man characterizes as a fender bender. However, when he got out to survey the damage, he was attacked, beaten, and shoved into the other vehicle, reports KTLA 5.

When the victim tried screaming for help, the men told him they would kill him. While one man drove away in the Tesla, the others made the man take them to his house in a gated community, then they ransacked the place and took all they valuables they wanted.

Eventually, the men took off with their spoils and the victim ran to a neighbor’s house to ask for help. He’s quite frankly lucky to be alive.

What’s really scary about these bump and run carjackings is they’re incredibly effective. We’re taught to get out and exchange insurance info with the other driver when we’re in a crash, but that’s what the criminals are counting on.

If you’re hit by someone and it feels like a setup, the best advice we can give is to stay in your car and call police. Waiting for the other people to get out might reveal their disposition, how many of them there are, even if they have weapons in their hands.

It’s sad that these criminals are exploiting people’s trust because that makes everyone less trusting in the end, but that’s where we’re at.
