People can’t believe footage of a janky Ford Expedition towing a full-length mobile home in Missouri. The poor SUV looks like it’s about to break apart and in at least one video taken by a bystander, you can hear plenty of scraping and grinding. It’s both hilarious and sad to see.
Ford goes after lemon law attorneys in California.
Not surprisingly, the Expedition had multiple breakages while towing the mobile home. The first was a tire that blew out. We don’t know if there was an inflation issue, the tire was already worn and on the verge of failure, or the excessive weight was the sole cause.
If you look at the squat on the SUV in the photos and videos, the rear tires obviously have a ton of pressure on them.
The second breakage, according to KOAM, was a broken hub. Exceeding the tow rating for your truck comes with consequences, especially when your vehicle is already falling apart.
According to KOAM, Missouri State Highway Patrol and State Commercial Vehicle Inspectors did eventually catch up with the slow-moving Ford towing the mobile home. Authorities issued five citations, one of them for damaging the road surface.
Unsurprisingly, the mobile home itself looked to be in poor condition. We’re sure these guys are trying to save on the delivery fee of having a commercial truck move the structure to a new location. Ironically, the cost in damage to the Expedition might negate any savings.
If the damage didn’t cost as much as the delivery fee would’ve, the citations probably did.
The guys who did this ill-advised tow job obviously didn’t plan things through. Footage taken by multiple people and shared by KOAM show the mobile home at one point traveling on a two-lane road, taking up essentially both lanes.
We can’t believe how often we’ve seen people not plan at all before towing with their truck or SUV. While this is an extreme and hilarious case, the fact is exceeding your vehicle’s tow rating and not doing safe towing practices will cost you dearly in the long run.
