Someone Actually Ran From Police In A Stolen Mitsubishi Mirage

It requires a special level of stupidity to steal a Mitsubishi Mirage in the first place. But to use the tiny gutless plastic car to try running from police is just on a whole other level of dumb. But that’s what this suspect did in Florida as state troopers chased him down and dealt with him appropriately.

Chinese cars sure seem jittery.

In case you don’t know, the modern Mirage features a 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine pumping out a whole whopping 78-horsepower and 74 lb.-ft. of torque. Sure, the tiny hatchback tips the scale at just over 2,000 lbs. but it’s not going to win any races against literally anything else on the road.

Why would anyone steal one of these soda cans on wheels? Just how much do they think they’re getting for it on the black market? Or don’t tell us, they wanted one so badly they had to just boost it instead of a Hellcat or even a Kia?

Once our camera car catches up with the Mitsubishi, the trooper makes short work of pitting the Mirage out. But our suspect is determined and tries to drive out of the PIT maneuver, so the trooper just keeps going, pushing the little car in a circle until he finally pins it against a fence.

It all looks like something out of a comedy movie. Only someone really did this and thought it was a great plan. That’s the most disturbing part of this crime.

Another thing we can’t believe from this dashcam video is yet another glaring example of how Floridians don’t move over when police approach with their lights and sirens going. We don’t understand what’s going on with Florida (we do see this in other places) but something needs to be done about drivers there.
