It seems like Corvette crashes have become rather common in recent years, rivaling Mustangs for frequency of destruction. This time around we have a C5 Corvette that crashed into a school bus, and yes kids were on board. Thankfully none of the children were hurt, but the American sports car didn’t fare so well.
Watch a Georgia police chase come to a fiery conclusion.
According to WCVB, the crash happened early on January 14 in Grafton, Massachusetts when the Corvette “entered the travel lane of the bus. In the report, the road where the collision happened, called Upton Street or Route 140, looks like a two-lane road with solid yellow lines in the median.
In other words, it appears the sports car went head-on with the bus, which would explain why it looks so mangled. Why the driver would do such a thing isn’t clear, although it’s possible he was passing a slower vehicle. That’s speculation and if true, doing that with a double solid line is obviously illegal and dangerous.
A total of 14 Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational Technical High students were on the bus at the time of the collision. Like we mentioned before, none were injured, thankfully. However, the bus driver suffered minor injuries and the driver of the C5 Corvette had serious injuries. Looking at the car, that’s not a surprise.
The crash is still under investigation, so details about it are scarce.
One thing we can say with confidence is when you’re driving a performance vehicle, it doesn’t give you the right to do whatever you want on the road. We see this all too often, drivers who think because their car is fast and/or powerful means everyone else needs to get out of their way.
When you’re enjoying such a ride, you have even more reason to be careful and aware of your surroundings. We hope the driver of the C5 Corvette and the bus both make full recoveries.
