Have we got a police chase for you that’s like a real life version of The Dukes of Hazzard. Only, instead of a classic Dodge Charger, the driver is in an old Ford truck. While he does stick the landing, let’s just say he really sucks at driving for an obvious reason.
Watch an Arkansas trooper PIT a fleeing Honda sport bike.
The Georgia trooper who stops this ill-fated getaway attempt caught on dashcam originally notices the Ford driving on the shoulder for no good reason. But after pulling over the pickup, the driver drunkenly argues with him.
Then our suspect takes off, thinking that would be a smart move. It wasn’t.
His friend smartly bails just as the truck drives off, so he skips out on all the airborne fun.
The old Ford speeds down the road but it’s no match for the GSP cruiser. Plus, we think the driver’s intoxicated state isn’t helping with his perception of speed. It also doesn’t help him stay on the road as it curves, leading him to take out a road sign, then do the best impression of the General Lee we’ve seen in a while.
What’s even more impressive is the guy sticks the landing. We thought for sure he’d roll the truck or the frame would split it two. That’s extra impressive considering he can’t drive in a straight line.
As the trooper tries to move on the Ford, likely to do a PIT maneuver, the spare tire comes tumbling out of the chassis, causing the trooper to swerve and slow down. We’ve never seen that trick before.
Our suspect still can’t stay in his lane, let alone on the road, as the trooper rightly says out loud the guy’s going to kill someone if he isn’t stopped quickly. The trooper tries to PIT the Ford twice in a row, but all the swerving the guy’s doing seems to foil them both.
Desperate to end the threat, the trooper just starts ramming the old truck, but he ends up running off the road, creaming an electrical service box as the suspect speeds off again. It seems the pickup really is built Ford Tough.
His own cruiser damaged, the trooper pushes it to catch back up to the pickup, wasting no time pitting it. He doesn’t let up, continuing to push the truck as it rotates to the side, flipping it onto the passenger side. Finally, our suspect can’t just drive away in his seemingly indestructible Ford.
Them Duke Boys would be proud, but we say don’t run from the police. And don’t drive intoxicated.
