A limited-run Chevrolet Corvette built to mark the nation’s 250th birthday is headed to the auction block Saturday, and the presale estimate suggests it will not go cheap.
The 2026 Corvette ZR1X Stars & Steel edition coupe carries an estimate of $550,000 to $600,000 as Lot S106.1 at the Monterey 2026 sale. Chevrolet finished only 10 of the commemorative coupes in black, and this car, VIN 1G1YR2D76T5900235, is one of them. The Stars & Steel treatment was a one-year-only design tied to the anniversary celebration and will not return for 2027.
Scarcity runs deeper than the paint. Chevrolet built just 270 ZR1X models for the 2026 model year, making the black Stars & Steel cars a rare subset of an already thin production run.
Under the hood sits a twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter hybrid V-8 rated at 1,250 horsepower, working alongside an electric motor mounted at the front axle. The setup gives the car all-wheel drive and routes power through an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The factory performance claims are the sort that once belonged only to purpose-built race cars. On a prepped track, Chevrolet rates the ZR1X at 1.68 seconds from zero to 60 mph and 8.675 seconds through the quarter-mile at 159 mph.
This example is built to the top 3LZ trim and adds both the ZR1X carbon fiber aero package and the ZTK performance package. Carbon fiber appears throughout, including a high wing spoiler, a visible front splitter and a removable Targa top. Stopping duty falls to carbon ceramic brakes finished with Edge Red calipers, mounted behind Carbon Flash forged wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tires. A front end lift system helps the low-slung nose clear driveways and steep approaches.
Inside, the black bodywork gives way to Adrenaline Red leather. The cabin includes heated and ventilated power sport bucket seats, a memory package, a center console, a Bose stereo, navigation, Bluetooth and wireless Apple CarPlay. Power windows, locks and mirrors, cruise control and a performance data recorder round out the equipment list. Altogether, the car left the factory with more than $28,000 in options.
It crosses the block Saturday, Aug. 15.
