Scrappy Honda Civic Gets A Brutal Police PIT

Estimated read time 2 min read

Don’t tell the Honda Civic crowd, but nobody in their right mind thinks those cars are genuinely fast. Sure, they can be a little fun to whip around and such, but like Mini Coopers they don’t have the guts for explosive acceleration like what you would need to outrun the cops. So it’s hilarious to see this one Civic driver try to ditch one of the more aggressive law enforcement agencies in the country, ultimately getting the consequences so richly deserved.

Repo of a 1976 Ford F-100 runs into some problems.

Instead of this chase starting as the pursuit of a murder suspect or even someone just speeding, it began when a Georgia trooper noticed the Civic driver looking at his phone instead of the road. It’s not everyday that we see a police chase where driver distraction was the impetus, so this is really something unique.

Instead of doing the reasonable thing, realizing he’s in a gerbil-powered car, and just pulling over to take the citation, this Honda driver instead decides that adding more charges and getting his little Civic wrecked is a much better idea. Maybe he installed a new air intake and wanted to test out the +5hp or something?

At first the guy drives on the shoulder and a gore point slowly while surrounded by stop-and-go traffic in Atlanta. But when the traffic thins and he can put all four cylinders to work, this suspect quickly learns he’s completely outgunned. What a shock.

Once the trooper finds a stretch of road where it’s free or innocent bystanders, he PITs the Civic, which ping pongs from  the center all over to the side wall, almost hitting an innocent bystander. Thankfully that person and their car are untouched, but the Civic gets launched into the air as a wheel comes off, bringing the ridiculous chase to a close.

Police found cash, a gun, and bags of pot in the guy’s car, so perhaps he ran because he was dealing? Seems like a dumb overreaction and he paid the price, including getting tazed and taken to the hospital.
